UnaMesa supports innovation in education, health care, and social services in low resource communities through service design. ThirdSpace partnered with UnaMesa in its work to convert Hesperian Foundation's library of books for frontline health workers into
Hesperian's Digital Commons. Currently, ThirdSpace and UnaMesa are collaborating with the University of Vermont's Center for Diversity and Inclusion to improve outcomes of foster youth in Vermont by working with social workers and Resource Coordinators to design systems that support their work processes in the field.
Mission: Make the Federal Budget Exciting and Easy to Understand
Visual Budget is user-experience-focused software that unlocks open government data from its spreadsheet graveyards, giving it context and making it clear and accessible so that public servants and citizens of all stripes can comprehend the government’s performance and the most important policy decisions before us. ThirdSpace is a project partner.
Mission: Creative digital marketing for high-impact, high-growth nonprofits and small businesses
Stagecoach Digital is a digital creative agency helping small businesses and nonprofits master online marketing and fundraising. ThirdSpace works with Digital Stagecoach's clients to maximize their online marketing and communications efforts to reach the audiences they need to grow.
Mission: Increase funding for and awareness of Down syndrome cognition research.
Palo Alto, California
A campaign of the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation, +15 seeks to improve the learning, memory and speech of individuals with Down syndrome by raising money for cognition research. ThirdSpace, in partnership with ingenuity firm C2 (now FuturePartners) designed and implemented the campaign, helping raise over $450,000 in online donations, and establishing the campaign as an important voice in the Down syndrome social media landscape.
Mission: Get more girls from underserved communites in the US into STEM careers.
Techbridge is an afterschool program that inspires girls in underserved communities to discover a passion for science, technology and engineering. ThirdSpace and Waverley Consulting led an analysis of the program and made recommendations of what it would take to scale and replicate the program nationally. In 2013, Techbridge announced it would expand its program to three other cities in the U.S.
Mission: Cultivate low income food entrepreneurs.
San Francisco, California
La Cocina is the most successful food business incubator for low income entrepreneurs in the country. The organization had plenty of data about how well it was doing in growing the financial captial of participants, but less data on social capital. ThirdSpace surveyed program participants on La Cocina's success in facilitating access to social capital and made recommendations. As a member of the engaged philanthropy organization Full Circle Fund, we co-led a team of volunteer consultants to help expand participants' access to financial capital as well.
Migration Information Source
Mission: Authoritative data and global perspectives on international migration.
The Migration Information Source is the Migration Policy Institute's data hub and library of information on migration issues from around the globe. ThirdSpace has contributed original research and perspectives on issues ranging from immigrant kids in detention to country profiles to overviews of specific policy issues.
